Glad you saved the lil thing. Not sure what your temps are at during the night right now, but once is starts hitting 50 it’s hibernation time. That is unless you plan on not hibernating. I’ve been feeding my Ornates as much as they’ll eat so they got plenty of reserves ready for winter.

This has the be the prettiest turtle I’ve help so far this year and figured i’d Share the beauty I briefly had in my company with all of you. She is safely in an adjacent pasture now.-
I get some, but I’ve got Southern Leopard Frogs and woodhouses toads that naturally live in the turtle enclosure so don’t notice much. Maybe I’m lucky with my enclosure?
Have you tried live food?
I typically leave food out till the next day for my boxies. I figure they eat carrion in the wild a 12hr old strawberry isn’t gonna hurt them. Most of the time there is no food left when I come back later.
That’s all the plants we’re adding this year. The wife has her eyes on edible plants and a blueberry bush for when they come out of hibernation. They live in the open plains around here so don’t want to over crowd it with plants.

She definitely is a charmer. She’s much more friendly (from my perspective) since she learned toes are not edible. Any time I’m in there she is under foot.
