Yup, south Carolina. The shell has me kinda confused as well. It doesn't appear to be an old injury and he doesn't have a spot of color anywhere on his skin.
Also, plastron is 12 scutes and yellow with black along the lines.
I almost ran over this guy on the way home (got some really nasty looks from other drivers for swerving then stopping) He was a good ways from any water and doesn't look like the guys I see most often around here. I'm curious as to what he is as I don't want to release something that's not...
My little Red Foot (Rex) pulled that stunt a few times when I first got him and scared the crap out of me. It's amazing how well these little guys can climb.
It's definitely good to pick your own out. When I went to the shop to get mine, there were two left, one stayed hidden and the other came right up to the glass and was letting me pet his head from the very first time I picked him up. Guess which one I bought...

The cat is INCREDIBLY interested! lol.
Just got him today, at Lowcountry Exotic Pets in Summerville, and he's settling in to his terrarium nicely.

I have a 26 and while I can find no real fault with it, I don't really like it that much. It's efficient, accurate and reliable. On the other hand, I've had 1ftf (put around 6k through)in my P9S, it'll handle any load I can dream up and I can lay down <1" groups at 7yds with it. It's my baby...
