We are being forced to move into an apartment with no soil anywhere, 3rd floor, time for Allen to find a new home. I've got an ad on CL but fear people will want him who dont know how to keep him safe and well fed and active.
I am in Thousand Oaks, California area. He and his stuff are not free...
hi! my male began attacking my juvinile female so i gave her away to a safer home. but i miss having two. perhaps i should have given him away to my friend and kept her and got another female.....anyway, can two males live together?
is one lonely? he seems sad with the female gone, but most...
Hi! I havent been on the site in a few months, not since I got my male and female RT and got them settled in. They get along great, never fight, she is smaller than he is, I assume that means she is younger.
Anyway, lately we find him on top of her a lot, so I've been keeping on eye on them...
Below is the text of the Crailgslist ad in my area. Aside from the spelling being deplorable, should i check this out?
I have been preparing for a Sulcata and am well researched on needs, etc, my Russians are thriving and I have space allocated indoors and out.
Here's the ad...
Need to find...
Im all about a little human /russian tortoise bonding as long as i keep my eyes open and my senses alert. i used to keep snakes and i would never say the same thing about dangling a mouse in front of a snake but this is different and im so glad it is, i feel an intelligence and awareness coming...
its 40 inches long about 20 wide and it is just for morning grazing and sun before going into the outdoor habitat for the dau which doesnt get direct sun til mid afternoon....and for neighbor visits, and stuff!
Hi! It is on dirt. and you are right, I could use that fourth panel to make it bigger, I do NOT need it next to the house! Space is an issue, that side yard is the best I've got, the rest is highly mfeterizlized lawn( I'm a renter). I am getting closer and closer to getting rid of the bark ANd...
Feedback would be great. I have a serious female burrower, so the pen is burried about 6 inches, then inside there is about 4 inches of soil or more, 3 inches of playsand and lots of reptibark.
she seems to like to get to the sand when she's hot,so I have it in the cool corners under a layer of...
Well, this is interesting information. The one thing I cannot believe any uses, and I just dealed with this today for the first time is 'playsand'!!! my female burrowed into it( its under the reptibark) and it was wet and she was covered and I cant imagine how sand can be a good thing, I...
ah, i had not even thought of that, darnit!
which reminds me, i am getting a playpen for the torts to hang out on my lawn in the mornings, we have lived here for 4 months, and we DID fertilize, no pesticides, can they go on my grass or not? and if not now, when can they?
thanks!
So far I've been told nasturnium, violets, geraniums and 'herbs' but which herbs was not specified.
Would love to hit a few nurseries and do some planting! I never thought I would plant anything but suddenly it sounds like a lot of fun.
So far I have not seen my RT foraging and assume the...
Well, Im new to tortoises so I dont have many answers but for me it is that the ground I had wasn't something they could burrow in. They now have about 8 inches of burrowing materials, which keeps them feeling safe I think and from trying to tunnel out.
