    Tortoise poop for vermicasting

Interesting. Thanks @tglazie. I hope my African Nightcrawlers wont need a year to break down sully poop :D I'm counting on the fact that my tortoise and my earthworms both originated in Africa, hoping that it'll somehow workout :D hahaha

    Tortoise poop for vermicasting

Curious, like how much longer would sully poop break down after oak leaves? Just so that I have an idea for comparison :)

    Tortoise poop for vermicasting

That's interesting @Beasty_Artemis . How big was your sulcata and what's their main diet? My sullies right now are about 8" and 12" right now (and combined weight of about 15kg). Their poop (after a few hours of drying up) looks like hay. Do you have the same poop when you put it in your...

Has anybody tried using tortoise poop for vermicasting? What are your experiences? How long do you age the tortoise poop? Do you mix anything else? Is the output any good? Thanks! :D

    Aldabra Hatchling Behavior - Burrowing

@Tom , @tglazie : I agree. I did expect some digging. The part that was curious was how much he dug under. My wife and I panicked when we couldnt find him in his enclosure. We thought he somehow got out! :) But after digging through the substrate, there he was - two inches under the coco earth...

    Young Aldabra question...

I actually have a formula for that :) First of all, it's true that every tortoise grows at different rate. Secondly, not all tortoises are born the same size. If the mom is big, the hatchling can be big as well. This makes it very difficult to know what size a tortoise (not just aldabras)...

Just bought a 4 year old Aldabra Tortoise and I have ?

Feeding instruction by Mazuri for their tortoises diet is up to 4% of a tortoise's body weight daily. That is, a 1kg tortoise, can be fed up to 40g of Mazuri tortoise diet. For the old formula (5M21), that's about 40 pellets (one 5M21 pellet is roughly 1g). 40 pellets is roughly half a cup...

    Aldabra Hatchling Behavior - Skittish

Hi, I actually have 2 questions, but I'll separate them into two threads. Background: After 2 years of raising sulcata hatchlings and 1 year of raising indian star hatchlings, my wife and I have finally got our first Aldabra hatchling. We got ours just yesterday :) Needless to say, we're very...
