    Dry scales on head/neck

Thanks for the responses. I have some silversides... It has been awhile since I gave her any of those, so I could add them back in. It hasn't gotten to the point of ulceration or anything really bad, I just wanted to catch it before it gets to that point. Is it just coconut oil that works...

    Dry scales on head/neck

It's been a long time since I actually posted on here. Mostly I just lurk. But I've noticed recently that the scales on my EBT's head/neck seem to be really dry. I don't think the reason should be humidity; she has areas to go that are both low and high humidity. Is there anything dietary...

    Egg-laying behavior but no eggs?

Alright, thanks for the responses. Hopefully that's what she's doing.

    Egg-laying behavior but no eggs?

I have an EBT that I've had for several years now, and each year she usually lays a clutch of eggs (they were infertile last year so I'm assuming they will be this year as well). Anyway, yesterday I saw her digging with her back feet, which I always thought was egg-laying behavior. Today, there...

    Lighting question?

Thanks for the response. Ironically, the reason I've got Turtle was problems with her eyes (wandering around my yard half-blind). But since that she hasn't had any health issues. I may look into one of those other types next time it's ready to be switched out though.

    Lighting question?

Just to clarify, I replace the bulbs as recommended, just been using the same type of bulb for several years.

    Lighting question?

I've been a member on here for a while, but just don't post often. I happened to see something about spiral bulbs (the compact fluorescent ones) causing blindness in baby reptiles. I've been using a spiral UVB bulb for my turtle for a couple years (never had seen anything bad about them) but I...

    EBT egg-laying question

That sounds about right. She had already crushed one of them, and the other was mostly deflated. I still have two from last year that have been in a spare aquarium that I rigged up as an incubator that seem alright (she had nowhere to lay that clutch, as she was still in a hospital enclosure...

    EBT egg-laying question

They were mostly buried, but they were in what is also her favorite corner to just sit in, so I imagine they were probably more buried initially since she's been sitting on top of them for at least a day or two. Also, they were in one spot and seemed like they were probably laid at the same...

    EBT egg-laying question

It's been probably about a year since I've even been on here (since the last time this happened...) but my EBT is laying eggs again and I have a few questions. I'm not sure how long ago she actually laid the eggs, but I'm guessing it was within the last week. We haven't bred her, so she must...

    Spitting up Water?

This morning when I checked on him, he had peed; the first time since I picked him up. AND, the puffiness around his legs and neck (which I was told by the rescue was due to him being 'angry') was completely gone. Maybe that chunk of mucous in his stomach was keeping anything from going...

    Spitting up Water?

Okay, so I just gave him some water, and got him to eat a chunk of nightcrawler. Almost right after eating it, he vomited the worm and then a HUGE block of mucous (I dissected it to be sure, but that's what I'm pretty sure it was). After that, he almost immediately perked up. He started...

    Spitting up Water?

I don't believe he has broken bones (he can move the legs that don't work well) but one of the cracks on the broken shell extends over his spine. I think there was some sort of nerve damage involved. I am pretty sure they did an x-ray, based on what they told me when we picked him up. He...

    Spitting up Water?

I don't know. I had assumed there had been since he went to a turtle rescue team at a vet school. But they also said he was ready for release (even though he uses his beak to drag himself along the ground).

    Spitting up Water?

Well, after the good news of the puffy skin going down and the eye clearing up on the little baby EBT with the crushed shell, I just went to check on him and noticed a small puddle of fluid under his face... I cleaned some gunk out from around his mouth, and he 'snotted' up some water on my...
