    Desert Seed Mixes

The AZ Grass mix looks very good for SDT's (and I suppose for CDT's as well). Your HOA will not like that mix though! (most are considered weeds here!) Where did you find these mixes? You still have the url?

    Desert Tortoise Food Plants

Although Mohave Desert Tortoises (MDT) - from California - and Sonora Desert Tortoise (SDT) - from Arizona - have the same latin name, researchers consider them separate "sub species" and are studying them separately. They do have some common food needs, but the native plants will of course be...

New home for Eggbert the AZ Desert Tortoise...

I am still in the building/designing stage of our Sonoran DT enclosure. I have been doing extensive research on habitat, etc. For your edible plants you may want to look at the "Captive Desert Tortoise Diet' put out by AZ G&F. It can be found at...

    Confused here

Being new to this forum and a prospective DT caregiver, I have been reading through the posts. I am now confused. I live in Arizona, where the state Game & Fish Dept regulates DT's. They can be adopted, one per household, through only a handful of agencies in only desert cities (yes, Arizona...

    Greets from AZ

I am new to the forum, and joined because we will be adopting a Desert Tortoise from the Phoenix Herp Society next summer. We have ample time to plan and are using the AZ Game & Fish Dept's guidelines as a "bible". A little about the planned habitat: we are converting 1/3 of our backyard to...
