Long time, no update!
Atlas is doing well. Now 3y4m old, and 4.5in SCL. They never did grow spurs. Still a gentle little critter who we adore! Hard to believe this is the little two inch hatchling I brought home 3 years ago!!
Thanks! My Atlas is the first tortoise I've actually held in my hands, so it's a bit intimidating knowing if everything is going well! I'm not too concerned about what sex Atlas is yet, I think we are probably still a year or so off finding out.
Your Atlas is gorgeous! I believe I got my Atlas...
He needs a UVB bulb and then a basking bulb on one end, allowing for a temperature gradient. If there is no gradient, the enclosure needs to be larger even for a tiny hatchling. NO heat mat.
Soil (bags of black earth no additives works well) is a good option for substrate.
The water bowl you...
I am a first time tortoise owner. I received this greek baby (intergrade) as a young hatchling in early 2019. I've done a great deal of research and educating myself on his care- but I've never actually met another person who keeps tortoise(s), aside from meeting with my torts breeder, so my...
Things have been busy, but Atlas is still doing well. They got a bit sleepy over the winter but never hibernate. Just slower. All woke up and normal activity level now that the weather has improved.
Just a beautiful animal.
This is not a staged picture, from tonight, of Atlas eating some...
No recent updates because we moved houses and towns! Of course Atlas came along for the ride!
Atlas is creeping up on 10 months old. Just a beautiful, lovely animal. Now exactly 3in SCL. Growth and appetite has slowed slightly in the winter months, but still doing amazing. I'm very proud of the...
Has anyone had a tortoise (particularly greek) range around a greenhouse?. We are a cold climate, he would likely need to come inside for the real cool months (unless we fully heat it which we are considering). It would be built off one wall of our house, greenhouse would be directly facing...
Just double checking since they changed WAY more than I was expecting!!
I'm very pleased with the quality of Atlas' growth. I feel like they look great!
I actually spoke to the breeder today. He has a breeding colony of seven individuals. Some of the animals have the normal expected thick...
Hi all!
Back in the spring I got a 10 week old hatchling. Based on some pictures I provided, they were IDed as a terrestris/Ibera intergrade.
Now at 7 months old, they look like a completely different animal. Rich orange colouring, a very round rather than squared shell shape, and they also...
