    Mortimer and Kobe 2nd Birthday

Haven't checked in here for awhile. Both are doing fine. Morty weighs in at 8.84 pounds about 11 inches long. Kobe is 4.65 pounds about 9 inches.

Just lots of weeds I collect from trusted friends yards. Collard, Turnip, Dandilion and other greens. They also get a few hours a day each to graze and sun.

Thanks Tom. So is Morty growing abnormally fast or only unusually fast. He is starting to come out of his shell. So to speak. Showing more interest in people. He is starting to recognize seeing me equals food so he is happy to see me.

    Kobe learning to graze

Kobe has finally figured out that all this green stuff growing in "her" new outdoor box is quite tasty.

    TORTOISE MANIAC THREAD

I like the "WOW you eat healthy". Then I have to say. The beer, Ben & Jerry's and Doritos are mine. The good stuff is for my critters.

    TORTOISE MANIAC THREAD

Nice job. I'll have to add that to my things to do list next time I'm in your neck of the woods. I hope Echo appreciates what you went through to get tort goodies. So far I haven't been found out when me and Dexter go on early morning raids. Many of my neighbors have grape vines and...

    New kitchen window view

I used 50/50 top soil and peat moss. I planted it with a blend of grass seed that should start coming up in a week or so. That bird feeder is constantly covered with Goldfinches year round. They go through about 20 pounds of thistle seed a month. They are so ridiculously cute and fun to...

They are cuttings from the Jade plants in my backyard. It's a succulent that goes nuts around here one broken little piece hits the ground is a new plant. I put 3 inch stainless screws through chunks of old nylon cutting boards and used them to anchor the plants. I have some in The Trash...

    New kitchen window view

Agreed. I just finished the box last weekend and the hut today. I threw in a few things I had on hand for a photo op. I am far from done. I'm either going to add a grapevine arbor or a little redwood trellis to cover the right 1/3. Fortunately the weather here in San Diego is pretty mild...

    New kitchen window view

That's my bearded dragon's sun room. [hr] Thanks. My neighbors think I'm nuts. Is it ok if I pull your weeds? Would you mind if I trimmed your palm? Had some scraps of Teak wood seemed like a fun project.

I need some info regarding Sulcata Tortoises

I would start with about an hour at a time and slowly build up to all day at about a year old. Build some kind of box or use a plastic kiddie pool that you can put damp substrate in. Plain dirt is fine. Make sure there is some shade and a hide. Put some kind of chicken wire top on it to keep...

I need some info regarding Sulcata Tortoises

I wouldn't use any Compact Florescent. They have been known to damage young tort's eyes. Either use a long strait type florescent tube or a Mercury Vapor Bulb. The MVB will provided both UV and basking heat. Also if you can get him natural sun at least 3 days a week artificial UV is not...

    Paint/Sealer to use?

Once it has cured it is totally inert. The friend I got it from works on yachts . the stuff is designed not to break down in a saltwater environment. My friend literally makes saltwater fish tanks out of it. A little damp soil is not going to hurt it. This stuff is like liquid glass.
