I always make sure to get him in his house when he starts to get cold. As for the other hazards they are all minimized already with keeping everyone aware of him being out, having no stairs in our house, and daily sweeping with the roomba. We're very careful with our baby. <3
I don't purposely...
He does have an enclosure. He really loves being able to wander the house, though. Why should he not? I've seen that a lot of larger tortoises are free to wander their owner's homes.
Good morning everyone!
As my little Leif (3 year old marginated tortoise) has been getting bigger (and cant fit under the cupboards or couch anymore) we've been letting him wander the house more. Almost every time I let him out he tries to eat the dogfood! Today we had some old lunch meat that...
I'll try to find a reptile vet nearby and have them look at him! I haven't soaked him too often since he's grown bigger. He always has water in his enclosure though. I'll start soaking him in the mornings before work again.
Also I'll raise the light a bit just in case.
I was taking a close look at my 2 year old marginated tortoise and noticed a spot on his she'll was a little raised in a corner compared to other places. Is that something to worry about? Im afraid it'll flake off or something.
Marginated :D I can't believe how much he's grown since I got him! He can ALMOST get himself out of the bath when he's done now. He usually just stretches out his legs and relaxes for a good 10 -15 mins. He'll start to climb the edges when the water cools.
Thanks for the quick reply! I had thought about the cinder block sort of pen for outside, but my guy LOVES to dig. I'm afraid he would dig his way under the bricks! I think it'd be ideal to keep the well established grass and random plants that are growing in my yard and build the pen over them...
Good morning everyone!
I live in the panhandle of Florida and I think my little Marginated Tort is ready to start taking some little walks in the yard to graze (because I would swear I bought a horse with how much he eats!). I took some pictures of the plants I have growing in my yard and was...
