Turtle "yawns" underwater - health isue?

Are there bubbles around your turtle's head when it's underwater? If so, it can be a sign of respiratory distress. Otherwise, I have no clue!

    Red Eared Sliders... Help!

I'm glad someone was there right away! I'm so worried that I'm going to come home after a long day at work and find them drowned

    Res bloating

I just came from the vet yesterday, and he has me doing a dry out period of 2-3 hours daily because my girls aren't basking. So maybe you should extend the amount of time they're out of the water?

    Res bloating

does she seem restless, agitated, or is trying to burrow or dig? How old is she? If she's 5 years or older and has any of these symptoms, she could have (I forget the technical term the vet called it!) a condition where she has a lot of eggs but is unable to lay them. If so, it's a quick fix...

    Red Eared Sliders... Help!

Does anyone else use Zoo Med floating basking dock? Have you had any issues with your turtle getting stuck behind the tube underwater that connects the two support pieces? Tomahto has gotten stuck there at least once, and I'm pretty sure it's happened more than that since I've come in before and...

    Odd turtle symptoms....any thoughts/suggestions?

Mine had a bacterial infection from spending too much time in the water. Since it doesn't hurt them to be out of the water, I'd recommend you do the same thing as my vet told me - take him out of the water 2-3 hours every day for a "dry out". There are lots of bacteria and viruses that can only...

    Red Eared Sliders... Help!

Yay! Things were MUCH better than I had originally thought! Tomahto has a bacterial infection due to previous poor husbandry. The vet said it wasn't bad enough to require shots. Both of the kids are getting a 2-3 hr dry out time every day, which will kill the bacteria (since it can only survive...

Well, the babies are off to the vet in the morning. Hopefully they're healthy and I'm just an overreacting mom!

    Odd turtle symptoms....any thoughts/suggestions?

I have a similar looking condition on my red eared sliders, and am going to the vet in the morning. Definitely keep us posted, I'm curious to know if our babies have the same condition. Fingers crossed it's only mineral deposits or something like that...

    Red Eared Sliders... Help!

That's so wonderful of y'all to have saved her! Wow, that is a BIG girl! Hopefully mine don't grow to be quite that big, but since they live such a long time, I want to make sure I do this right!
