And also I have heard clamp lamps are dangerous and shouldn’t be clamped however I have it screwed into the wood and also stuck on with lots of tape so it’s safe

You need to gain more knowledge on keeping your tortoise, they are very delicate and pet shops don’t always give the right advice. Could you post a pic of enclosure?
