I have a Hermann’s tortoise and I have had her for about a year. I have started noticing some redness on her growth lines and she has been having some runny poop recently.
Her diet consists of mustard greens, turnip greens and dandelion greens mostly. I sprinkle her food with calcium once a...
I use top soil as substrate. She might be rubbing up against the food plate (I use a floor tile)? Or some rocks i scatter through the enclosure? Or her hide? Could be anything. But I’m so glad there is no fungus!
After Koopa’s soak for today I noticed some bubble like formations in the black parts of the plasteron. I’m very worried that it is the beginning of shell rot. Should I be worried?
Hello!
This is an overall shell health/dietary needs post. I didnt want to make separate posts describing what I've been finding, so I decided to jumble it into one.
I am a new hermanns tortoise owner and I have been noticing that my tortoise has not been eating as much. A couple weeks ago...

Thank you for your opinion. I greatly appreciate it. I have been reading that red on tortoise shells could be SCUD, so I was really concerned with that. But I am glad that my mind is at ease now. I am still taking her to the vet just to make sure, but I am thankful for your input.
I think it might be the new cypress multch I bought. But thank you for your opinion. Im still taking her to the vet just to be sure, but thank you so much for your opinion. Do you have any suggestions on where to buy good and soft cypress multch? I usually buy from home depot. I am so relieved...
