    Tortoise throwing a temper tantrum

Speaking of throwing fits. Came home tonight to this mess. That was her pool. This is definitely a new one.

    Tortoise throwing a temper tantrum

I'm going to go with "fun". Kind of like kids going down a slide even though they thump on their butt at the end. And maybe boredom... Penny also has this habit of digging in the corners of her table all the way to the bottom, then continuing to dig at the walls, then after a while, she turns...

    Concerned about poo

Just an update on Penny. The day before we went on vacation last month, she decided she was done with her half-hibernating, and started eating again. This was a post vacation update: http://www.tortoiseforum.org/threads/tortoise-throwing-a-temper-tantrum.160491/ She is back to her normal crabby...

    Tortoise throwing a temper tantrum

That's funny! Penny does the same things. After her bath she "stomps" into her log. If she were a cat, her tail would be straight up and full poof. She also climbs her logs to slide down the other side. And if you walk in on her doing this, she freezes and gives you this look of "wtf do you...

    Tortoise throwing a temper tantrum

We had a terra-cotta pot base for a while, but she started leaving presents after she ate and I was getting concerned about not being able to clean it well enough so we switched to the paper plates. And yes, when I say "lettuce" I don't mean iceburgh or even romaine. We get red leaf, green...

    Tortoise throwing a temper tantrum

Lmao!! To be honest. A little of both. We have been feeding her with paper plates for over 6 months and it's never been a problem until yesterday. Her food is a good foot or more away from her pool. So this took actual effort. Also, I'm not allowed to have normal pets. This is not by my...

    Tortoise throwing a temper tantrum

i just thought I'd share. So after a strange mid-summer 2 month hibernation, Penny finally started eating the day before we left for a 10-day vacation. She ate really well while we were gone according to our house sitter, and seemed fine and back to her normal crabby self when we got back last...

    Concerned about poo

She has two lights that we run, one is a direct down for a basking light, the other is higher and less direct as a general warming light. but that's not a bad idea. In the winter we keep the house cooler so both lights are needed, and we do have AC so figured we'd need it still, but that would...

    Concerned about poo

    Concerned about poo

Ok. So my husband corrected me. It WAS around 800 grams. Not 8 lbs. I just weighed her and she's a little over 2 lbs. assuming my scale is accurate. She's still pretty big for a Russian. So here is a nice pic with a tape measure and the side of her pool. I thought she was going to book right...

    Concerned about poo

8 pounds! about 3.6kg. The vet said she looks really healthy, and not overfed, so keep doing what we're doing. He was pretty impressed with how much she grew. He guessed that she was really malnourished prior, and all the really good food let her catch up with her growing. Ok, I'll go with...

    Concerned about poo

House temp is kept about 72 degrees I'm not sure on the temp under her lights because my thermometer broke, but I did just replace the mercury vapor bulbs. Not sure on humidity either, but she gets bathed regularly, and she her own little pool for soaking or drinking on her own schedule...
