Thanks for the awesome website... I will be ordering!
Well... It is done(except for the fencing)!!!!!!
I planted some Geraniums, Hollyhocks and Hibiscus. There is a large rock for decoration, a cinder block on it's side for a little shelter, a planter on it's side with pea gravel and water in it...
The ground is soft enough that he can burrow anywhere he wants. He just won't be able to burrow out!
What do you all think about substrate?
Should I just leave the dirt?
Put in sand?
Put in sod?
Am so excited to finish my Sulcata's outdoor enclosure... He is going to love it! I first had to dig up a TON of rocks, then dig up 4 bushes, and now I am digging a trench along the fence to fill with rocks to prevent him digging out. Here are the step by step pics of what I have done so far.
Bought a baby Sulcata the end of October of last year... We weren't weighing him from the beginning. We started weighing him in April and he has only gained 1.4oz. Should he be growing faster? What am I doing wrong? I have him in a 2ft x 2ft glass aquarium with both a heat source and a UV bulb...
Have a young Sulcata and am wondering what the best way is to keep it humid? I have thought about getting a repti fogger. Spraying the substrate with a spray bottle seems to dry out too fast! I am going to get a piece of wood to replace the screen lid, but any other ideas would be greatly...
The fixtures don't have clamps, so I have to set them on the screen lid. I will go purchase one of the brooder lights from Home Depot... Are those the silver ones?
Not sure how to tell if it is getting too hot. The fixture is the standard ceramic fixture purchased from Petco. It is no hanging. It is sitting on a screen lid. The fixture is fairly new, so it should be in proper working order.
I ordered an MVB from amazon.com and within a week, it blew. So I returned it and ordered a replacement, which also blew within a week. It is on a timer. Is it not suppose to be cycled on and off? Has anyone else had this problem? BTW, it is a ZooMed!
What is the difference between the UVB and the MVB?
No spiral bulbs, it is a tube light.
I was able to get him to eat al little banana mixed with zoomed grasslands pellet!
I am currently soaking him in the baby food mixture and he seems a little more alert.
What is MVB?
I assume he was a hatchling when I got him... The pet store didn't have much info on him!
The soil is organic and there is only a small amount of sand mixed in.
UVB bulb is a Zoo Med reptisun 5.0 UVB.
Substrate is a combo of potting soil, sand, coconut coir, and a little Timothy hay. I don't have a humidity gauge, but I soak down the substrate daily. I use a heat lamp over his soaking tub to keep the water warm. I also have been spraying some liquid...
