I ask all my tort babies that, "Are you SMILING at me???" Of course lots of people say they cannot feel "happiness" or "sadness" like humans- they can only respond to physical stimulus and their environments... I know they feel happiness and even joy, though!
They also have individual preferences, and throw little fits when they don't like something I do- like moving their water bowls or giving them a new hide when they outgrow the old one- they can be quite temperamental sometimes... LOL! I'm enchanted with their individual personalities!
