We toilet train our torts. Three times a day we soak them in warm water. When the water cools, we do a water change. The torts usually poops at which time we shower and dry them. Rarely they poop in the living room hardwood floors or in the carpets. If an accident happens, we use disinfectant wipes to clean the mess.
Importantly, once outside the enclosures they can exercise for about an hour and then find a place to hide. The enclosures are for sleeping and basking under the heat lamps.
Both torts like their walks, but the two males are separated because they are territorial and sometimes they nip each other.
