Slate hide
I like how you're using multiple slate rocks on the right side to make a raised space with a slope going up to it. It looks like big rocks keep things stable. Is there anything else that prevents your tort from moving things around? Can he/she fit underneath it too? Also, what size is your enclosure? The elephant ear plant (red leaf one on the left) looks super realistic. Where did you get that one? Or is it real?

Since this pic was taken the platform has been raised to allow my tort to sleep underneath, the plant is artificial, I got it from a store here in the uk, the enclosure is 87cm x 49cm x49cm which I'll be upgrading after Christmas now my torts growing, s/he has an outside enclosure also.

We have two Eastern Hermanns in separate enclosures. One tort is toilet trained and rarely soils in his enclosure. Soaking the torts in warm water stimulates excretion. The other is always soiling. Both torts are males and territorial, occasionally they bite each other and rarely kept together.

My concerns are that the substrate is more natural as settings, but after two years I received a bag of substrate that developed white ticks in the enclosure. Comments were made on Google reviews about it and it finally we had mites too. They recommend baking the substrate in a oven, but it is too much trouble.

We changed the flooring. We use a rubber matting which easier to wipe clean and paper towels on top of it. The paper towels acts as a diaper and replaced when soiled. Last, we use a hand towel to cover them substituting it as being buried / hiding in the substrate. It works.

i use coco fibre and orchid bark and yes, i bake it before using, it works and i don't have any problems with bugs(springtails) i keep the coco fibre block in the freezer for several weeks before baking
