I'm currently about to finish "It" and I've thoroughly enjoyed this one. It's my first experience reading one of his books. I've looked online at what are his top books but, I would like to stick with a creepy and interesting story line like It has. Any recommendations?

Thanks for responding. I know movies don't usually do much justice from following a book, but I sure found the shining to be very strange! I'll definitely keep your suggestions in mind. I'm glad that I found this section to post this question. Most people I know don't really care for Kings novels. I really don't want "It" to end yet, I've really enjoyed the characters and story.

Great. I just bought the books on Amazon. I bought a book that included Carrie, salems lot, and the shining in it. So that's a cool bundle.

"IT" was and is a great book. Too bad the movie based on it was so horrible! Seems to have been made for a few hundred bucks worth of special effects.

If you want a Stephen King story that goes on and on, check out the Dark Tower series. (Starts with The Gunslinger) It's a totally different type of story from It and the others, but it's got a lot of creepy in it and the characters are amazingly diverse and rich. One of my all-time favorite series of books from page one to page last!

I recall seeing parts of it when I was younger, but nothing memorable. I'll watch it when I'm done! I definitely do t think they can create good actors to be part of "the losers club".

I love the dark tower books- i have read the whole series a couple times now. The Eyes of the Dragon is another favorite of mine, but not creepy like It. I love that King intertwines characters into several different stories and has themes that appear in multiple stories. For example- the turtle and Randall Flagg.

IT is a King first for myself. I'm looking forward to reading others. This May take a while.

Those must have been really early books if he wrote under someone else. I appreciate all of the responses everyone!

I've been reading 'It' for the last six weeks with about another 300 pages to go. It's such an epic book! Really, really enjoying it. I also read The Green Mile, which was fantastic. Well worth a read, and less lengthy ;)

The movie was amazing, so I wouldn't doubt that the book is.

I think they were from the mid 90's. Excellent creepy books.

Another Richard Bachman book that was good was Thinner. The Green Mile was great.

The Bachman books were written in starting in the 70's and going until the 90's.

Another great one was Needful Things. Years ago I read tons of Stephen King and loved it. Just can't remember all the titles!!

As it does for me too. I wish books were cheaper online! I have a library near but I don't have a schedule that allows me to read all of the time. Apparently I will receive Cujo on Monday, but I don't want to finish IT yet...

Finding time to read isn't easy.. Although I've been so engrossed in It the last few days it's hard to find the time to do anything BUT read ;)
