I ask because I have some of the strangest musical variety compared to anyone I know. So I'm curious to all of your preferred style.

Me:
-Alternative/punk rock (pretty much anyone who would go on warped tour)
-Heavier Rock- specifically Disturbed
-Rock&Roll (Chuck Berry beats Elvis any day in my book!)
Country (generally between 5-20 year old songs since I grew up to them- Shania Twain, Toby Keith, Garth Brooks. I do like some new songs as well though)
Metal-specifically only ever Metallica
Symphonic metal- Nightwish (bonus points if you've ever even heard of them!! They're from Finland and are my favorite band), also H.I.M Which is classified as "love metal" but close enough to count it here
Aside from that I tell people I listen to anything but rap (since most pop is bearable to my ears but rap just isn't at all)

You don't have to explain as in depth as me, I just am very particular in my tastes!

I listen to everything but metal. I love oldies though! Like 10-30s music!
What styles music were in the 10's-30's time? I took an American history through music class in high school a few years ago so I know, but just need a refresher on that!

I mostly listen to Classical/Operas. But I also like to rock out to symphonic metal specifically Blind Guardian, I also used to like Nightwish when it had Tarja Turunen but now she makes her own music and I like hers very much. Oh and I like oldie music like for example Kay Kyser's Jingle Jangle Jingle and Dean Martin's That's Amore Haha. :)

Yay! I didn't think anyone would know Nightwish! I was only introduced a few years ago at the release of the newest album, so initially I didn't really like Tarja because her voice and style was way to different to my ears, but now I've been getting albums individually from newest to oldest when I know all the songs, and I'm on the Wishmaster album and holy crap her voice is just magic!! I have some of the stuff she did on her own but I can only really listen to the more symphonic metal stuff and a lot she did is more pure opera, mind you she has the voice for it but I need a good beat to my music most of the time. Have you heard Paradise (what about us) by within temptation featuring Tarja? I stumbled across it on a music channel and recognized her voice instantly! Maybe I should check out Blind Guardian, because I've never heard of them :) ... and I used to hate my grandfather playing opera in his car ye end up listening to an opera rock blend lol
Haha I know That's Amore, my mum used to sing it to us all the time as kids!

"fantasy symphonic metal" makes me think of the music on the final fantasy video game I used to play, haha, but yeah I'll have to check them out see if they're my style, since Nightwish is one of the few I listen to, and some Epica but they're note as good.
I only got Paradise, maybe I should invest in some more Within Temptation, I just hope its not strange to not hear Tarja backing up the song! ;)
I'm still just overjoyed you've listened to such music, because everyone looks at me like i'm crazy when I try to explain it, or even have them listen to it (except my coworker friend who introduced me, but she left before I got to get contact info :( )

Good variety! I listen to Skillet and the Beach boys too... but i'm no elvis fan I believe he was overrated, i'm a Chuck Berry fan though (Johnny B. Goode!!!:D:D:D) I feel I was born in the wrong decade, old school rock and roll makes me feel so nostalgic... but I wasn't alive for those times to validly feel nostalgia :D
