Visited a little reptile zoo/rescue today and saw a few torts. My heart hurt for these animals seeing their small dark enclosures with barely any green and no food available.
This was my first time seeing sulcatas in person so that was an exciting moment for me despite their tiny indoor habitat. But these animals are rescues so I can only imagine what conditions they were in before.
My little 200g margie looked so tiny when I got home

SOOO many "rescues" aren't any sort of a rescue for these misunderstood animals.

Florida is no different.
I'm completely jaded when I even hear "rescue" or "sanctuary"and often, I find that it's for good reason.
By the way, those Redfoot look terrible.

Most rescues are not really rescues. They just want to think they are.
I feel like they were kijiji purchases or people’s surrendered pets. There was one monitor lizard that had poor husbandry burns and there was a notice on his cage stating how it’s comment to happen and I’m just standing there going …but is it really? ?

This little turtle was probably the highlight of the entire experience since when he saw me he trotted right over to the glass and stared me down with this adorable face
