Hi all! I recently took in a baby three toed box turtle and an adult ornate box turtle.

I was wondering if anyone meal preps for their boxies (meaning prep and freeze) and, if so, would they mind sharing their recipe? I know the general percentages of what their diet should be and am also going to be feeding fresh foods as much as possible, but would also like to have frozen options for days that may be hectic or a basic food staple when a variety of fresh veggies is not readily available.

If you purchase frozen veggies for your mix, do you cook/steam them first before combining them with the rest of the ingredients or just blend it all together?

Thank you in advance for any recipes you can share!

Way back at the beginning of the Forum one of our more experienced members gave us a recipe for turtle jello. I think her name was Katrina. Maybe you could find it in a search.???

I like a good challenge. I think this is the thread you were thinking of?

@gneesy If this kind of thing interests you, @Kapidolo Farms sells a gel kit that could make life easier for you. I haven’t personally used it, but others on the forum have, and they spoken highly about it.

OMG!!!! That's the one! I looked for it last night and couldn't find it. GOOD JOB!

For box turtles you can add fruit and maybe re-hydrated bugs, etc.
