Every year I set out these bins to attract soldier Flys. And this is my most effective design up to date. The idea is to get these guys to deposit eggs so you can get soldier fly larvae, aka Phoenix worms. The more abundance of food, the more larvae. I found watermelon to be the absolute best bate. There's tons of it, not to mention it's benefits. We must remember, what goes in our feeders goes in our pets and the Phoenix worms(also known as calcium worms) are high in calcium. I used to sell these guys by the pounds, but these days I just use them to feed my turtles and hatchlings.

Hmmm, not a bad idea if you can keep it away from the house! Happen to have some aging watermelon on hand too...
Yep. And I never smell it until I open it. The watermelon is merciful when it comes to smell and I use cypress as substrate.
