Hi, I recently rescued a Russian tortoise. When I first got him his shell was fine and was healthy. After about a month of having him now I've noticed that his shell has white spots. At first it was just a small spot but it has become larger recently. It feels as if the colored part of his shell chipped off because the white area is a tiny bit lower than the rest of the shell. I was wondering if this is shell rot or something else. Thank you.

It's possible that you're not seeing it unless you watch them all day. Two tortoises of any species really should not be housed together. Russians fight lot and are particularly scrappy. I couldn't find it quickly, but there was a thread from a while back where two Russians were housed together and one tortoise actually killed the other. The owner came home to a pretty gory scene.

You should get them into separate enclosures as soon as possible.

My Russian tries to bite my fingers every time i go in his enclosure. I can't imagine what would happen if I was another tortoise.
