Hello, I purchased this gorgeous male Cherry a week ago. (Named him Maximus). Everything about him looks great except his plastron. I’ve never experienced shell rot with my other 15 tortoises. Does this look healed or still in need of treatment? If so, what would be the best treatment? Thanks for any input!

I see this a lot with Tortoises raised outside in Florida. Is is referred to as scud from my personal understanding it is a mild shell rot that should go away with a decrease of humidity/a dry place to dry off I am not sure as to the correct triage for this condition as I have not had to deal with it in the past I’m sure someone will come along and help you soon

Get some cheap athletes foot cream and apply it to the affected area of the plastron for a few days and it should clear up.

Although they need a high humidity, they need to be on dry land. As babies in an enclosure, we recommend wetting the lower layers of substrate while keeping the top dry, usually pouring water into the corners.
The cream ZeroPilot recommended should do the trick and then be sure he stays on mostly dry land.

Welcome to the forum. Truly a good looking tort, despite the fungus condition.

It's too wet in the area where he/she probably sleeps.
This is fairly common with RF keeping.
Any ATHLETES FOOT cream will stop it from continuing further.
Well must have used to have been. It definitely isn’t too wet now. None of my others have ever had shell rot, this photo was the moment I took the new guy out of the shipping box

Thank you, this photo was right after taking the tortoise out of this shipping box. I’ve never had an issue with shell rot with any of my other redfoots
