Actually getting the greenhouse will save you money. Will let you use the tote you already have and you will already have the next size enclosure. If you get a greenhouse that is like 3 or 4 x 5 or 6 it should last you until the tort can be moved outside.
What if the green house doesn’t fit on top of the tote?? I would I make sure the humidity stays? Thanks again!

21 x 38 x 15 in , do you know if a shower curtain would melt under a heating lamp?? I’m thinking about trying to use that as a lid instead and just have a corner cut out for the heating lamp but I don’t want any melting :/
Yes it would.

Thank you! Im afraid of the green house not fitting on the top of this tote as the dimensions are a bit weird :/ I may try to make my own out of some wood.. if I was able to get the light inside would it still melt the shower curtain?

I’m pretty sure that is a spot bulb :/ it does get the log pretty hot as a basking spot but that’s in my old enclosure.. what bulb would you recommend ? I’m thinking about getting a standing one instead of a clamp...

also how do you feel about the UVB light being that high up?? Would it still work or do I need it lower? For my new set up.
Thanks again !
UVB radiation must be positioned at a height that is both effective and safe. Manufacturers print their bulb's optimal height on the packaging. Hanging the bulb too high is ineffective; hanging it too low can cause radiation burns to the corneas. They do sell hand held meters to read the exact amount of radiation produced by the bulb at any particular height, but start by using the height recommended on the bulb package.

Yes, the fixture hanging arms are quite nice and can be adjusted to the exact placement for your heat bulb.

This is a ceramic heat emitter:

The convenience of them is that once the height is set, it can be left on night and day because they work without producing any light.

I have to warn you: a storage box that small is going to be very hard to use, even short term. You really need something at least 3x2 feet as a nursery. Tortoises need a lot of room so that their micro-climate can be reasonably established, and so that they can walk the perimeter to keep their digestive organs healthy. Larger is always better...and always easier to customize with respect to heat, humidity, light, uvb radiation, and walking territory.

The tote will be fine for a short time. I like them a little bigger. I used a 4x4 and blocked off a portion to make it about 2 or 3 x 4.
Your tote would easily fit into the greenhouse depending on the size you bought.

The tote you have maybe big enough for now. It would be easier though with a 50 gal tote or larger with higher sides not short sides.
My other post tells ya how to place the heat and lights. A tube uvb light could be rigged to hang inside while the heating che's sit on the top.
Sorry I’m very new to this how do I get to your posts?

The greenhouse would fit over the whole tote. The tote sitting inside the green house. This would give you the height for hanging lights and heat and enclosing the heat and humidity in. Then in about 6 months or so you remove the tote and use the greenhouse as the enclosure.

I personally would get one of these. They come in many sizes, cheap, and work good for an enclosure. Some have a floor some don't. If it doesnt, I use a tarp and tape the sides up around the outside of the green house. Lights and heat can hang from the center support bar. I used rope to attach them and easily adjust the height.
When they have out grown it, the house can be used as a cover for their outside enclosure as a hot spot for the tort to go into when they want with just a simple cut of a door into the side or use as a greenhouse to grow tort food.
It looks like their smallest size is 71 inches and my table is unfortunately 54 inches long :/

My probably is that the UVB light doesn’t fit inside the box ... I’m thinking that where it lays in the picture might be too high up

You are not understanding. The greenhouse would not be used as a top. It would be used to totally enclose your tote, by the tote sitting inside the greenhouse. That would give you the enclosed closure to keep heat and humidity in and you can hang the lights and heat from the greenhouse support bars. You want the greenhouse to be bigger then the tote.

Yeah I finally did understand that.. sorry I was slow at first but what I was trying to say the second time (sorry forgot the confusion) was that the table my tort sits on is 54 inches, the container is shorter then the table, so the green house would stick off my table pretty sizably :/ would something like this possible work to keep him in to live?? Not sure about the metal or if big enough lmk. Thank you for being patient with me

Okay I think I got the confusion figured out too.
Yes the greenhouse in the link you posted would work.

It fits better on the table I have so my dogs don’t try to mess with it! Thank you so much for the help I’m going to purchase that and return the container I think that would be a much better purchase. I’ll keep you updated on the outcome

I have just recently purchase a baby leopard tortoise and need some massive help building my enclosure. I have a 100w ceramic heating light and don’t know how to make it so that it can be enclosed within the chamber. If I put it under the lid it is barley 6 inches above the ground... but if I put it above the lead hardly any heat is getting in :/ been taking my lil guy outside to get more heat/sun but his tank gets down to 75 sometimes due to me trying to keep it nice and humid. Any help would be great thanks! The picture is the larger enclosure I’m trying to build to trap in humidity, I will be using a shower curtain over the front for easy access but can’t sold my heating issue...
I’ve since built my new enclosure! Please check it out and help with any tips :)

Currently I have been keeping the tank no lower then 75 in some spots! Even at night time I checked at 3 am the other day and still 75 :/ can I play a CHE directly inside the box?? I have a much much smaller box right now because like others I fell victim to an old school breeder and had not found this forum. I would like to upgrade ASAP but finding it hard to be able to hang lights in an enclosed container

I use che on both lamps at night. I change one for a basking spot during the day. This setup contains humidity and heat. Look close to see this is made up of 2" top portion of coffee large can mounted on the top tray. 5.5" dome lights fit great on top. Center cut out of plastic lid keeps the fixture in place.

What is the story with this box? Is this a full time enclosure for five sulcata?
Only at night. This setup works for hatchlings and maybe one till 6 months dependingon growth. The light fixtures have rheostats to monitor the heat and moist orchid bark. I've since moved them outside with heated houses. I re-homed 2 so I have 3 now.
