Hey! Any Aldabra Breeders in Socal? I spoke to Toucan Jungle but he doesn't have any babies currently. Also, I have California Desert Tortoises. I am assuming if I get an Aldabra I should keep them completely separated because of upper respitory disease?

That's one reason. Another is that the CDT's would all be crushed to death.

Hey, Greg: ( @ALDABRAMAN ). We haven't had an update about the parcel of land you bought in a long time. Are you ready to move yet?

He updates the saga of West Camp almost daily on his FB group, Tortoise Talk. BTW he now has 10,000 members on there! I think it was started in 2018 or 2019.

Back to West Camp...construction is well underway. The perimeter fence I think is done, and most of the buildings and the house are in varying stages of work.

He has had, and is still having, huge ongoing problems with the General Contractor, sub contractors, and workers. Greg has to be there all the time to spot errors in following the blueprints, building, safety issues, and especially shoddy workmanship. The entire project is a giant headache. Every day is a new crisis...poor Greg is exhausted, angry, and disgusted.

The inspector came and decided that Greg needed something else for local compliance and it cost another pile of money. I think Greg said the project is more than $100,000 over, with more to come.

My blood pressure goes up just looking at the pics Greg posts of shoddy workmanship and mistakes that have been made. It's really beyond imagination.

But when it's done, it's going to be a state of the art facility, and absolutely gorgeous for torts and people.

Haha yes, well when the Aldabra is young that isn't an issue. What about the breeder question? Thanks!

The only aldabra breeder I know is Greg Lindley ...
ALDABRAMAN. He is on here very rarely. The best way to get him would be to join his FB group, Tortoise Talk. He's located in South FL. There are other members in that group that breed aldabras, too. I don't remember names, but a post looking for a breeder would probably get you one.

~ WOW, that is spot on, yes it has been a nightmare and disgusting. Many issues, however moving forward. The perimeter wall is up, however we need a concrete restoration company to fix it, it turned out horrible looking in many places.
