Hi, I wanted to know if anyone could tell me what gender my less-than-a-year-old tortoise is. It's name is Poseidon and I have pictures of it from all angles. It would be really nice if you could tell me. Thanks.

You've cut out the parts we need to see in the only plastron shot.

We'll need to be able to see the anal scutes and tail to sex your tortoise.

Its still right in the middle. Too hard to say at this point. Might be another year or two before you know for sure.

Ok here ya go. The only problem... didnt have tail out. hope it still works thought.
I agree with Tom. It will be easier to sex the tortoise a year or two down the road.

However, if I were pressed for a guess right now, I would say it is looking like a female. The tail is rather short and not very thick, anal scutes appear to be pointing back rather than out to the sides , and the supracaudal scute is not curling back toward the plastron.

Nice looking tortoise. What is the species if you know it?
