Bubbles from tortoise nose?

My 1 year old horsefield tortoise ate half a raspberry and very soon after it’s eyes started to go puffy and so he began to rub them. As this was happening I noticed a few bubbles came out of his nose and he seemed slightly distressed, as each time the bubbling happened he would very quickly go into his shell.
He seemed to return to normal very quickly and took himself off to sleep afterwards.
I’m wondering if I’ve done something wrong or if I need some help please?

If the bubbles occurred right after he ate the raspberry then it's most likely the raspberry is the problem, I suggest to stop feeding it.

Horsfield tortoises cannot process sugars in their diet.

You only feed sweet foods like fruit, tomato and bell pepper very sparingly and very occasionally... if at all.

as you have learned, raspberry wasn’t a good idea. Don’t feed it,

Your tortoise doesn’t need treats. It needs a healthy diet of weedy and leafy greens.
