If you’re reading this you probably have a problem too... I’m addicted to tortoises, I have 3 leopard tortoises (8 month old- two 6 month old) and I have 3 Sudanese sulcatas (3 months old) and I’m already planning on getting another baby in the beginning of next year. I just love these guys so dang much. I’m thinking a star tortoise but I’m not positive. ? Either way I’m happy that my babies are all growing and healthy. I’m lucky/unlucky I have so much room on my ranch.. ?

I've been looking for a thread like this! Can I just go out and say how grateful I am for these amazing animals? Seeing and interacting with my Russian's is the highlight of my day!

I would love to care for more tortoises too, but they live so long that I'm worried about how their future will look if I take care for more than a couple.

Anyway, I love these animals, I can't get enough of them!

I love turtles too, they are so neat and it is such a great challenge to make just the right habitat for each and get the lighting, substrate and food right. I have had turtles all my life. I am now 63 and still loving the beautiful creatures.

Lol, I can relate! Someone once posted something similar to this on a Facebook group and I commented "Torts are like Pringles, once you pop you can't stop". I checked my Facebook like an hour later and I had over 50 comments of people furious with me because they took it as me saying I like eating tortoises! ?

Sounds to be like you need a couple more tortoises, Sulcata are the best and Hermanni are pretty neat as well...
Two or so of my favorite things is sitting outside watching my Sulcata graze and sleep and get into trouble. It's kind of calming somehow. I also keep box turtles and they are Sulcata personalities in a small container. There's 2 schools of thought here:
1.I spend so much money on them that they had better entertain me
2. Turtles and tortoises are wild animals and I keep them that way...
for me...#1 They damned well better entertain me!!!

Absolutely! Just watching them have fun is one of the coolest parts about them. I've actually been looking at Sulcatas recently! I hope to get one in my future, but as of now, I am about to move to a climate that I think is too cold to adequately take care of a Sulcata. Maybe in a couple of years you guys will see me on the Sulcata care sheet!

I can understand your predicament. I have two now a (what I'm told) Gulf Coast Box Turtle, and a 2.5 yr old Leopard named Seymour, I just lost my Hermann's named Gigantor. My problem is I have a small farm, so I also have 9 Parrots, 2 Geese, 5 Ducks, 8 Chickens, 5 Dogs & Fish. I live by myself, so with this menagerie, there is NO vacations. Can't get someone with a Zoo background to watch them all & provide care.
I LOVE all my kids and grieve the recent loss of Gigantor, and all my other kids that have past.
Just be careful, because it can get out of hand....
