This morning I was very happy to release two newly hatched Green Malachite butterflies into area code 33322.
Some food plants do exist, but I have never, ever seen one in the wild here or anywhere else.
They came from Butterfly World in Coconut Creek Florida

Is Butterfly World still around?

Beautiful! They look yellow rather than green in the posted photo (or maybe it's my monitor) so seem rather similar to a Tiger Swallowtail, but the "tails" on the hindwing aren't as pronounced.

Just looked them up and they are a lovely green all right. My monitor must have a color issue. Or maybe it's my 74 year old old eyes!

Are these in the same family as the swallowtails?

The tails aren't very long and they are a striking lime green in the sunlight.
It's very overcast here.
As usual.

I've been contemplating this hobby!

I raised a hornworm in the redfoot's indoor enclosure, but once it dug down, it never came back up ?

Hornworms become a thick bodied, short winged. Dark colored Hawk MOTH or Sphinx moth.
I release them regularly when my Chameleons don't eat the Hornworms.
