My cherry head hatching, Dalia, whom I got in September, will soon be a Yearling. In September she was 2 3/4 inches and weighed 56 grams.

She is now just about 3 inches in length and weighs 102 grams.

Does this sound like good enough growth in a 9 month period?
She is active and eats well.

Thanks.

ADDENDUM: From everything I’ve read, her weight is low. ☹️

Is that for a Redfoot or a Cherry Head Redfoot?
Cherryhead grow slower and stay smaller.
I'd say that a near doubling of weight with .5 inches of growth sound good.

That's a little slow growth but if the Tort is eating I wouldn't worry. My Cherry head hatchling was born Xmas Eve and today she weighs 140g.

Wow, so she’s only 5 months? Yeah, I’ve read some are in the 200s at a year, sounds like yours will be ——but as you say she is eating (and quite perky) so she may just be a slow grower. Thanks for your feedback.

I have two cherry heads. First one went from 44.5g and 2.25inch to 95g and 3inch in 9 months. Second one grew from 33g and 2.1in to 80g and 3in in 5 months. They grow differently.

What's your husbandry like because that's an incredibly slow rate of growth? If your tort only put on 50g in 9 months something must be off. My Cherry head went from 32gs when hatched to 400gs in the first year.

Wow, that’s crazy, even my redfoots aren’t 400 and they are a year in a half. And they eat like crazy.

I keep them outside in the summer and inside in the winter. Maintaining 80 to 100 humidity. Food is varied diet of spring mix, arugala, squash, okra, endive, chicory, cactus, mushrooms and occasional fruits and proteins. Also muzuri diet two to three times a week. Temperature ranges from 82 to 98 in cage. They are all active and seem happy. What do you think I’m doing wrong?

Also, my Redfoot which is about 350G at 1.5 years is 5” long, which according to everything I’ve looked up is pretty normal. 400 for a cherry head (A smaller sub species) at a year seems large to me.

Everything sounds good but your temperature. Aim for 84-86, anything above 90 is too hot for Redfoots. I have heard that keeping them outside before their adults will make them grow considerably slower, maybe that's the case. In any case as long as the growth is smooth and they're steadily gaining weight, I wouldn't worry.

Well I’ve been researching since you replied. My Redfoot that is 350g is slightly over 5 inches long. Was your cherry head over 5 inches long at 1 year? I know they typically top out at 10 to 12. Just curious.

Also, I was keeping them at 85 ambient for a while, but they seemed less active and yawned a lot. They seem to move around more at 82 Ambient range. They bask and move the cool end equally.

I don't remember her exact length but this picture was taken at a year old. The scale is 8.5" across.Screenshot_20200804-173902_2.png

If they're kept together, that'd actually be normal.
And unfortunate.
When 2 are kept together. One thrives. One does not.
