Hello all, I've had my Sulcata for a few months now and things are going great! He/she's growing at a steady rate and given a diet to thrive. All the parameters are spot on (heat, humidity etc) but it seems like young Duncan will only be active in the morning when he gets fed and after his daily soak. He's only 88 grams right now so he's still a little guy. Will these be a time where he starts spending more time outside of his hide? I have a very large enclosure with lots of space to explore and climb but it seems like it's not being utilized. Obviously in the wild they will spend the majority of their younger life in the burrow so I'm wondering if that could factor into the behavior. Thanks for reading!

This is my 2 months old sulcata. This is what he does when he wakes up. He gets fresh weeds etc. and after he goes to basking spot. After about 15-20 min he is up and does all kinds of different running, climbing, food hunting. I put food in different spots as I found him really enjoying finding leaves in different spots. Than we usually take a bath, he eats and has his down time. Sleeps or sits looking at the dog or goes between his grass and takes a nap in it. So I would say from 12-1pm till 5pm is his mellow time. Like now he is in his hide spot - doing renovations I can see dirt being kicked out ??.
I can actually tell what time it is based on his activities. So starting around 5 pm he starts the same running around pushing stuff routine and he is like that till about 7 pm, at 8 he will take a last snack and his lights start to turn off. He goes to his hide to sleep or passes out anywhere really.

Ps. Omg I think I need to get a life. LOL

That's basically the exact routine here! Maybe I'll try to place food in different areas so it's more of a natural setting. Thanks for the reply. :) Love your setup by the way! I'm proud of what I made for my little guy if you want to look at some of my past posts.

I will look for sure.
I just added some isopods yesterday so they can do some clean up. Have to go get few more today because yesterday was raining.
I just put like a leaf here leaf there and he walks bites a piece of and keeps walking kinda cute to watch. Than looks like he remembers something he likes was there so he runs back ??

Haha that's too cute! I'm trying to get mine acclimated to eating while I'm in the room. I work from home and his setup is in my office and it seems like he'll do everything aside from eat with me around! So I'll typically put his food in then leave my office and let him eat because I feel bad. :( I'm trying to start the tough love approach to get him used to it. My russian BEGS to eat out of my hand but the Sulcata wants nothing to do with it lol.

Mine eats from my hand or even chases my hand it’s cute. I am sure yours will get there too.
