What a great sis, to go help Yvonne.
But I wonder, how much she could have really stopped you, if ya had put a Texas tort in the car. Your slipping ??.
That little one so cute. Good luck with the two you did get.
Oh crap! I could have taken that Texan, but, it seems the older Y and I get, the more I really don't want her mad at me anymore.

Don't blame ya lol
BUT, not that I really thought about it, she was in bed, 1 am, I tried to be quiet putting the last in my car...Damn that Misty dog, bark bark. Yes, it would have been no trouble to pick him up and put him in a box in my car. She won't be up and about for months. Genine maybe wouldn't look for him so she wouldn't miss him. But once he was missed, it's only obvious where he would be lol busted!

Oh yeah, she would have busted you. I bet she went and check on him after you left, or had someone do it lol
Might have trained the dog to bite anyone that picks up a tortoise if she wasn't there with them lol

So I drove 760 miles in 11 hours. I don't know if that's good or bad. I had Big Sam in a big covered tote, and my cat Smokey slept under the dash

My sister doesn't seem to post pictures of her animals, I post a new thread complete with pictures if my tortoises get up in the morning. Anyway, this is Dudley, and I am posting this because this is a big freakin animal.
Oh man, here he comes, he chases me because he's very terratoreal. Dudley's front legs are bigger than my 2 arms put together. He's beefy as hell. I bet he weighs 150 +View attachment 307233

It's hard for me to accept help, but believe me, I'm very grateful you are here!

haha that’s funny ... I am so NOT used to getting help. When in school or at a job I struggled all the time. I just got used to NOT getting help. Then I just never ASKED figuring no one would say yes I’ll help.
And NOW when people try to help me I complain they do it wrong or say leave me alone I’ll do it myself. That sounds terrible but I just can’t find a person who is willing to do it MY way. I know there are many ways to do some things but if I ask you to do it MY way could you just humor me for that one time.???
When I’m better you can do it anyway you want ;but for now while I’m incapacitated ....could you just do it MY way. ?pleeeeeease! ?
When anyone needs my help I always ask them how they want me to do it and then I will do it THEIR way out of respect
in my case people come in and bulldoze everything I asked them to do
the dishes have food still left on them stuck the floors still have muddy footprints on them and my tortoise slept at the foot of my bed for a week before I took over.
And that is how people help me. Thank God my post-op is coming up this Tuesday and I will finally get the go ahead to do things myself again.
But like you said- I know I was a pain in the a** —but now looking back I am so glad I HAD people to help me..?
I am so great full too!

Typo 860 miles in 11 hours. And no, when I stop for fuel I pee and leave. I eat while I'm driving, and only stop for fuel.
But when here, I went to the store about 3:30, there were no wheelchair victim parking spaces so I went down an aisle and noticed 2 cars behind me, probably ain't nothin, I park, lock the car which I NEVER do (it has a kill switch) the 2 cars park and "hey lady", "can we talk for a minute?" . They both acted like they had just found the Holy Grail; I should have made a video of the whole thing. The guys went over my car asking questions and tellin me how "clean" it was. After about 15 minutes, one guy offered me 10 grand for it. The guy who took Sam acted the same way. I'm in the San Joaquin Valley, Low riders abound. Now for some of you realistically speaking, my beloved Camaro is worth about $2000 on a good day. So shoot me for not taking that offer, I'll never see another one like that, offer that is. Low riders are car guys. and it was fun to talk to them. Very knowledgeable about my 3rd generation IROC-Z. Time for NASCAR...

you should go back there sometime and see if in that parking lot that guy shows up again... see if he will offer $10,000 again?
$2000 really? That was considered a muscle car no? Isn’t that worth a lot more?
Call..American Pickers or Monkey guys?

Dudley is massive. His front legs are bigger than my arms. He has gotten so big that I simply stood in his pen mesmerised. Massive. She used to have Bo and So, Albabrans, so it's not like I haven't seen big torts. My Bob was big. Dudley is huge, and I think..oh hell, I'm missing the pre race stuff. My track, my dream track. It's Talladega.
Trip to be continued post race. But lookit what I FOUND and got to keep

I FOUND him in the 3-toed pen. So then I kept going out and looking for more, lol. I haven't had a baby in a long time, but here is Reef2, named after a close friend. Temporarily he's in about a 1 gallon container, in cypress mulch, in a tort table with other box turtles. So he's getting dim light, and ambient heat. Post race I'm going back to Pet Smart for a small radiant heat panel, oh four F-16's flying over the track. Gotta go

It's interesting how my sister cares for Dudley. His pen is made using old wood fencing. It's about the size of 2 normal back yards. Every once in a while she cuts a branch from her oh so hugh Mulberry tree and throws it in his pen. He has green and dry graze, and that's all. So I show up and start giving him tort food. Oops. I'm not sure how many Leopards she has. From 1 pound to Sulcata size sorta. She dosen't feed them either. They have graze and bushes to pick at. She has an orange tree in the Leo yard. Bigass oranges, green now except for 1 lousy orange is orange and I watch a 2 or 3 lb Leopard eat that orange, the whole thing, from the peel, seeds, rind and fruit. Amazing. I'm thinkin that my favorite pens were a toss up from the 5 box turtle pens, to the California desert tortoises (Gopherus agassizii) BIG pen and the Texas torts big pen. And the tortoises are so mellow and sweet. She has a small Texas tort in a pen by himself and I wanted him so bad. I almost tort napped him, but she knows where I live. For the first time I found a brand new box turtle baby. Tiny with his egg tooth still. I was so excited I was acting like a crazy thing. Here is Reef2, named after my close friend and neighbor. Brand new life,

After a quarantine period, I will add a dog chewed T. ornata ornata that Y gave me to this enclosure . She's not eating, and hasn't eaten for quite a while. I gavaged her Critical Care, and she tried to bite a strawberry, but she's too weak. She can't even push herself around.
That's one of my 3 legged box turtles in the bottom photo, and a blind Eastern. A deformed 3-toed in the food dish

They are ALL beautiful!
I want one....???

I love box turtles. They have a Sulcata brain in a small body. They are fun, out going, smart and easy keepers.
Frankly, I cannot ever remember her saying "no" to me. Generally speaking, she gave me a complete doll collection, many live tortoises or turtles, plants... mega plants, Bob, Big Sam and Tony Stewart, a complete tortoise and turtle statue collection, gas money, her mothers' baby doll and a shitload a cat toys. She told me no tortoises this time, but that wasn't usual. I am fairly spoiled by her

my sister is exactly the same!
Sweet sole and then all corporate.
(You say Nazi I say Corporate) ??
She gives me everything I want she forces me to go out with her and buys me the world. But funny thing is all I want from her is her time what am I gonna do with all this stuff when you go to your sisters house keep saying to yourself... What the hell am I gonna do with all this stuff why do I wanna raise 400 tortoises?
Look at all the animals that give her a headache every day I have it a little easier and I wanna keep it that way!
Hahaha....
Like you said she kicked your butt right?
now you got to put yourself in her shoes and realize......
she does that kind of crap every day and doesn’t mind.
I tell people at work ...
You wanna be ME?
Ok... go on ahead I’ll stay in the office.
Two minutes later (in the office) I get 30 emails asking where I am and get my lazy a** out here because the person trying to be “me” HAS NO CLUE! ??
I get such a kick out of it every time. I never realized that what I did was actually good??
I never give myself credit. But I’m the type of person that likes to play most of the time so whether I’m at work or at home I play until I have to be serious then it’s all
“A” game or in your terms Maggie it’s all NASCAR time.
??

For a chance to own a Texas Tortoise it would have been a mission impossible scene! Fake the escape by setting up the fence to look like he got out then cover with a branch from a tree. She wouldn’t have noticed till next year! See you are a great sister!
