hello everyone!

So I am going to attempt to grow some weeds for my babies during the winter. I say attempt because I have tried to grow dandelion in the past and it did not work out at all. I have a seed tray that I'm wanting to try out. Does anyone have any pointers for me to do this inside?

I am getting a metal shelf to go in front of my window inside for all my plants that need to be brought in this winter and i thought I could grow them there, or i can set them inside the enclosure somewhere they can't get to. I have 2 different plantain plants, mallow and chickweed on top of grasses and arugula

My friend recommended this product to me:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B087JF94FZ/?tag=exoticpetnetw-20

I can’t seem to find a cheaper one, but I know that I saw a similar product to this one that was $20.

My friend loves this product because it promoted quick germination and healthy leaves.

Usually, I find plants reaching to the window one they germinate, so I had to rotate them around quite often. Despite my efforts, my radish plant grew long and stemmy. I believe that you can grow plants from a window sill, but it won’t flourish as well as under a grow light.

I’m not sure if I answered your questions, but please let me know if you have any more. I also want to let you know that this was from personal experience. I am not an expert, but I bet there are other members here that know this topic better.

The only indoor weeds I know how to grow you can't feed to your Tortoise......

I have some seeds growing indoors (and some *trying* to), under one of those pink grow lights. That broadleaf testudo mix you can find on amazon grows nicely if you don't overcrowd the seeds and let it get big. I plant that in soil, not seed trays, and give it min 4 weeks before I start feeding any of it.
Other things are hit or miss. Dandelion and plantain haven't worked for me indoors at all, but worked outdoors. Took a loooong time to germinate and grow though.
Chicory (italian dandelion, has a purple flower) works amazing both ways, and it's been by far the easiest thing to grow for me, along with clover and calendula. Get some of that! I'm still plucking leaves from the same three heads, they just keep popping new leaves.

Dandelion only worked outside, if I planted directly in large pots of soil, in my seed trays they never germinated. Milk thistle has been the opposite! Seed trays and then transfer. Vetch grows fine either way. Mallow doesn't seem to like indoors or grow lights, or both.

Same... ? i wish I could though because that's a lit of wasted leaves lol
Trust me you can't, you don't want to have to run your tortoise to Taco Bell at 3 in the morning.

The mallow seeds I had to stick in the fridge for like 8 weeks before planting!? Mallow is not my friend.
I'm trying to find a variety of plantain that grows better than the broadleaf kind I had, that one is only semi my friend.
