I have decided I am being punished by all that is Sulcata. Bob was a really nice tortoise (in memory) Big Sam is a nice tortoise, rarely causing problems...then there is Knobby the tortoise who may be Queen. Today, again, she became fixated on making it passed the tires and killing the Hydrangea. When I first saw her, those little stubby back legs were tossing up mud, and she wiggled from side to side pushing with all her might. But she didn't get thru, so I gloated some to her, then went back readying my car for my trip to my sister's.

Next time I went to check on her, I couldn't find her. I was pretty sure she couldn't escape the yard, but surprises are no surprise with her. So finally I found her, she'd made it passed the tires and was stuck. I shoulda just left her stuck...

And yet again I am reminded why I didn't get one of the big, friendly, outgoing MONSTERS!
But all the reason's that you wouldn't have one, are exactly why I love them. Plus, if I were my sister, or had somebody like you with hammer, my tortoises would be set up better, sooo they would not get into the trouble they do, and they'd be so boring to me...

And if I was a West Coaster I would gladly lend a hand for a tort in need!

Oh gee, thanks buddy...lol But with her nosy, bulldozer approach to anything, what in the heck am I gonna do when this sweet little thing is 100 lbs? Oh crap, she's only 35 lbs now...
Do female sulcatas get that big? For some reason, I was thinking the females usually topped out around 85 lbs or so. Not that 15 lbs would make that much difference with this one when she's older! ?

hey.... be careful what you put out there..
I AM on the EAST coast and I need help with my 100lb sulcata .. she can’t get in or out of house ,tub,shed..etc.... without me.
I would pay good money for help till I recover from surgery (2-4weeks)...
But I won’t ask anyone because I am still not sure you can have a “legal” sulcata where I am from...? We got her in Albany many years ago and then they went out of business.!!!! They were called “Wet Pets” Incase anyone was gonna ask...
And yes just like Maggie says ...
They are like true bull dozers.
But that’s what I love about her.
She keeps me grounded... lol ?

I am already collecting materials from my neighbors for the future enclosure. We have a big random cemented “enclosure” in front of the house which is shaded. Had a big Japanese maple in it - it will go. And Herbie hopefully will stay there for a year or two when ready.
She cracks me up with all her moving and determination.

That's not guilt, that's a look of smug victory!
