Basic question for those using SensorPush temp/humidity gauges.

I have 3 in an Egyptian tortoise setup and the cool side is reading 100% humidity almost constantly which is not possible.

What is the proper orientation for the gauge? Is the small hole with the humidity sensor/writing supposed to be touching the substrate surface, or is it the other way around?

Have you tried calibrating your sensor?

I have many of these and have them in all different arrangements - all work fine. Yes - you should calibrate them, but why do you say its impossible to read 100% RH? Just that there is no way its actually 100% RH in the enclosure? these sensors can display a reading higher than 100% as well. Do the calibration and see. Maybe its defective? I have had a bad one before.

Thanks for chiming in. I meant not possible for a reading of 100% due to no moisture having been introduced into the enclosure and the substrate being bone dry oyster shell/chicken grit.

The other 2 sensors are reading 20-30% which is similar to the ambient humidity in my home (currently the wet season in FL).

I am going to open the back of the sensor and dry it out in a container of rice for several days in case moisture somehow got inside the internal compartment.

@Maro2Bear thanks for the video link, if drying it out doesn’t work I’m going to try calibrating it.

Got it. Yes, if 2 of them are at 20% and 1 is at 100% then something is wrong. SensorPush is good about replacing bad-in-box units.

I would call the Company before you possibly void any warranty by opening up the unit.
