I have "rescued" two different Redfoot tortoises from BEVERLY'S.
Both had parasites.
Both required veterinarian intervention.
I visit about once a week to buy insects and bird food.
Today I saw this: at least a dozen and a half Sulcata tortoises in two tanks.
The substrate was dry bark.
The water was unreachable to all of them.
I pointed out these issues AGAIN.
And was mostly ignored AGAIN.
So I'm posting here.
BEVERLY'S PET CENTER may not be a great place to buy a tortoise.

Tell Beverley she didn't even spell Sulcata right.

I've heard that if you report it as animal cruelty (either the cops or animal control in your area), they have to investigate... that's probably a pain for everyone involved; they might make changes to avoid that kind of hassle.

They always "fix" what I mentioned.
It just doesn't become store policy....
Next visit, same crap.
I was more or less told they won't use Terra cotta saucers for water.....Because they don't sell them.

Don't get me wrong. This place is better than UNDERGROUND REPTILES as far as keeping their babies relatively humid, etc. (Underground uses dry, dusty Rabbit pellets) And light years ahead of places like PETCO. But it's just disappointing to see stupid, fixable stuff like this week after week.
So many pet shops refuse to step up.
