These two look so sad. All the ad says is "2 tortoises" and it has this one picture. Poor things. If I'm not too late, I can save them, do some research, get them on the right track, and, if they aren't something that I feel properly equipped for, into the hands of someone with the knowledge or is at least willing to learn the proper way to care for them. ?

Id say, if you are in reach - go rescue, soak them, get some proper food. The one on the right looks like some kind of Box Turtle. I’m sure IT will appreciate a very nice long soak!

Thanks! Looking them up, maybe a three toed box turtle due to how round it is and, though it could be hiding a toe, that back foot looks like 3 toes.

The other one I'm thinking might be in the Meditteranean category. Who would be the expert on those that I could tag? @Tom I know you have much knowledge about all things tortoise. Can you help?

I have contacted them. If I don't get a reply to text soon, I will give them a call.

I think both are Box Turtles rather than tortoises. And as mentioned above by @Maro2Bear, they are much too dry. They need to be soaked and fed some night crawlers to get them going on the right path.

Go save them if you can. I am so thankful that I saved my Miss. Dexter Persimmons. I also saved a Russian and found her a home with someone on tortoise forum.

I tried. The person messaged and told me he was impressed with my enclosures (I sent pics to show they would be well taken care of) but said I was the 4th to inquire about them. He was surprised to find out they were actually box turtles instead of tortoises. He said it made sense now why he was told him to feed them a certain way by the person who left them with him. Hopefully they are going to a home that can care for them properly.

At least now he knows what they are so he can tell the person buying them and they can research the species. Thanks, everyone!

so..?? YOU are not going to be their mother/father???? ??????
I wanted YOU to get them and take care of them. The people on this sight would have steered you in all the right directions for care.... and I could see more pics of them improving.! The little one was tethered!!!!

I wish I could. :( Maybe the other people will pass when they find out they are box turtles and not tortoises? They are about a 2.5 hour drive from me but I would have been happy to go get them and give them a better life. :(
