It’s been really hot here in north Alabama, I’ve had Jackson in his sealed indoor enclosure, where it is always 80-87 degrees and 90% humidity. He is eating well and is looking good.
Here is my setup for now for inside.
I have 2 - 4x3 PVC enclosures that I made, 1 for my Sulcata Baxter , and one for Jackson , they both have 1-t5 uvb light, 1-65w incandescent flood light, 1-45w incandescent flood light, 1-100w che
The Che is on a thermostat set at 80, so it never gets below 80,the 65w flood and the uvb are on 12 hours 8-8, the other 45w flood is on a timer, comes on at 10am goes off at 2, it will get to around 87-89 degrees in the hottest part of the day, (10-2), then slowly comes down in the afternoon @85 when the lights go out, then it takes a few hours for it to get down to 80 and the thermostat kicks on the Che, which doesn’t come on that often through the night, when I get up to check on them through the night, it seems like the Che is not on and the temp is right on 80. Seems good to me, what do you all think about the conditions?
Sulcata is liking it, he has got a routine now.
Jackson, who has only been in there for 1 day, is staying hidden under the bark/hay.
He did eat most of a large pile of greens and Mazuri, so I think he is good. Today Im going to get him outside in the yard and takes some pics, bath and weight .
Also his outdoor enclosure is 4x8 for now, and I am already making it taller ?, I am gonna redo that today ,I will post some pics later if that.

I am going up 2 more blocks higher with it , and Im going to build another one just like it next to it for Baxter.
Here is my idea for a house for them.Picture this divided inside and outside , so that each one has his own side and then would exit into there own enclosure, I’m thinking about digging a footing into the ground and laying block for a fence, probably 50x 50 for each tort for now

Looks awesome! How hard was it to make the PVC enclosure? I looked at the thread that’s pinned about them but the tools to make it looked quite expensive.

i made them with a skill saw, small drill bit, counter sink bit, battery powered drill, bought the door track from amazon, got the glass cut local. the PVC sheets are made at factory near me, so I just go by a pick them up, each 4x8 x1/2" sheet costs $55, it takes 2, so all in they cost me around $200 each to build. I used the plans in the Tortoise Enclosure section of the forum. I screwed mine together , but you can also use PVC glue and glue them,
My plan is to put 2 of them together when the torts get too big for the 4x3 , probably by next spring !

You can’t see Jackson in this pic, he has dug himself under the hay in the back left corner, you can see all the debris on the back wall from him slinging dirt , hahaha

Jackson is settling in to the routine pretty well, he is starting to be predictable about when he likes to eat , sleep , etc.He is in sealed enclosure at night, I give him fresh food every morning before the lights come on, When he gets up from being under the substrate, he eats for a while, he is starting to really love rose of Sharon blooms, and opuntia, I just got a bunch of different foods from Kapidolo farms, my sully and Aldabra , seem to like it ( I’ve given them, dandelion, violet, Maringo so far ) then he just basks for a while, That is about the time I take him outside for the afternoon, whee he basks some , eats some grass, ROS leaves , blooms. Then he gets a soak ,he is starting to just settle in and like it, he always poops. after the soak, he is usually pretty active, roams around , eats some more. About 2 hours before lights out, he goes back to his indoor enclosure, where he usually munches on whatever I have in his plate, then he digs in to the same spot, if you didn’t know he was in there you could never see him ? I had a great hide in his enclosure, but in 2 weeks he never even went in it, so I took it out . I’ve seen him go in his outdoor hide just once for about 5 minutes,
I think he is getting used to it all
