Hello,

I have had a small tortoise for almost a year now. I got her in September. She was sick when I got her, apparently she hadn't eaten properly nor drank water properly before hybernation but with a two month treatment at the vet's she became a really active and happy turtle. All problems behind. For a few months now, however, she hasn't been into drinking water from the bowl. I soak her veggies in water and she pees normally and regularly but I was wondering if there was a way to make turtles drink water. I want her to be as hydrated as possible.

What species?

If russian, they're not too interested in water

No it is an Argentinian earth turtle. They are the common turtle here.
Can you post a pic or the scientific name? I've never heard of that turtle.

Soak the tort in "baby bottle" warm water. My russian won't drink from his water bowl in his enclosure, but he'll drink for 5 minutes straight while in the bath. It has a bonus of a laxative effect on all reptiles, even the most stubborn, so you get it all out without having to clean the enclosure.

Oh, Chaco Tortoise gotcha. They are quite rare here in America. Some tortoises you'll never see drink on their own, some you will. Try soaking your tortoise and see if it drinks then. A lot of them will.

Some tortoises have evolved to drink as rain water runs off their shell over their head. You might try running a gentle stream from the hose over his back.

You can also spritz water over his food.

During summertime she would drink a lot of water from her bowl. But not that the weather is cooler she isn't as keen anymore. She still gets ton from her veggies. So I will monitor and see what happens. Thank you for replying back!

I would love to see pics of your tortoise. They are one of my favorite species and we don't see them often here.

Also, can we see a picture of the water bowl? That might help us to see why the tortoise isn't interested in it.

The water bowl is the same she has always had. It is a shallow plate with flowers on it. When I get home I'll snap a pic
