Hello All!

Does anyone use a security camera in their indoor terrarium for viewing while away at work? I am getting spoiled working from home and getting to check in all the time. I want to be able to check in and see once I go back to the office.

If you can link products you use that would be great!

Double side tape or those Velcro picture hangers work really well

Other than the camera type, it would be good to know if there is any fee associated with these wifi enabled 24/7 cameras.

How did you mount it? And does it hold up in the humidity?
I actually just sat it on top of one of his houses and it works great! It says humidity is fine but I also bought a clear housing case just to be safe.

And there is no fee with mine. I just connected to my wifi then linked it to the app and I was good to go. I even bought one for my living room to check on my son when he's home

There’s also this thread from a couple weeks ago

For most of these types of cameras, there are 3 different ways they can be used. Outside I’d your existing internet connection, there should only monthly fees involved if you choose to have the footage recorded and go to the cloud. Each company is different for cloud storage costs, but usually it would be around $5.00 to $10 per month. I am not aware of a camera that would force you to upload footage to the cloud though...this should just be an optional opt in/sign up kind of service. Most cameras also have the ability for you to put a memory card into the camera for the recorded footage to go on and once it’s full, it would wipe the card clean and start recording again (No cloud storage involved, so no monthly fees). The other option is to simply have the camera run the live feed and not record any of it. I personally don’t pay for cloud storage, nor do I have a memory card in my tortoise cam at this point. I just have the feed going to check in on the little guy and that has worked well for me.

Camera Type: We use Ubiquiti cameras. Specifically, the UVC-G3-FLEX, UVC-G3, and UVC-G3-DOME.
Fee: Hardware costs more than some other options, but everything is self contained and does not rely on external services.
Distance: They work far away, or really close up

(the video is compressed by twitter, actual camera quality is much clearer)

Ease of Use: highly configurable, but probably more advanced than most need.

I'd be happy to provide more info if anyone has questions.

Yep. I use an Arlo compact camera and it has a magnet on it so I stick it to any metal thing I can find (high off the ground looking down into the pen). It works great! And you can monitor 24/7. It really helps g
