I just bought my very first tortoise and decided to go with a baby sulcata. I've had it for a few days now and he/she is very healthy and eating well. i've decided i want to go ahead and buy another baby sulcata in the next couple of days because honestly im hooked. i have all of the time and resources available to take care of them both but my main concern is can i house them together. i will be buying the new one from the same supplier and only a few days after the first one. does the new one still need to be quarantined. If so for how long.

This is asked a lot on here. The answer is always the same - tortoises are solitary creatures and do not do well together. One will bully the other, which will suffer as a result. You will need completely separate enclosures so they have their own space and territory.

Save your money and spend it on the tortoise you already have, improve his enclosure and give him more space - he will thank you for that much more than you getting him a 'friend'.

Thanks for the advice im still new to all of this but i have learned alot, is there anything that you would recommend for the enclosure other than the basic stuff, i really do want this tort to have the best quality of life possible and money isn't really an object when it comes to my animals, but i dont have alot of experience with reptiles and there is so much conflicting information out there

Sure, i'm still a relatively new tortoise owner but I did so much research before getting him and now he's here, I'm constantly on this forum! Post some pictures of your enclosure and I'll help as much as I can. I'm sure other people will be able to advise too ?

ill definitely post some pics on here soon, i was actually planning to get several and start a breeding group which is why i questioned if they could be housed together. obviously i know it would take years for them to reach that stage but i live on a solid tract of land and building a large outdoor enclosure with a temp. controlled structure for them to move in and out of freely is super cheap where i live.
