Hello I have had my Russian tortoise koopa for over a year now the past week or so he has been eating less and being very inactive. He has also not been pooping for a few days I’m starting to worry and have soaked him (he always poops plenty in the bath) but this time he isn’t at all. I’m not sure what I should do I will keep soaking him daily. Any tip or foods that will help? And how long should I wait till being really concerned? I think he is somewhat dehydrated from not eating much and he doesn’t have water in his enclosure because he doesn’t even go near it when he does. Will soaking daily instead of weekly help enough to solve this issue? I just want my boy to be healthy and active again

I’ve heard of people feeding cucumber or aloe to hydrate a tortoise and get them pooping. Worth a try maybe.

A nice walk around the house cuddled in a towel and if no luck-Car Ride. Soak in a 50/50 carrott puree water bath. What temp and how long do you soak?

Other things that get my tortoise going poo is cactus (young pads are soft) and pumpkin purée, I usually feed the stuff in the can.

Nothing makes a tortoise empty his bowels better than forgetting him in his soak water. I've forgotten soaking tortoises several times, only to come back and see them in a tub of water SO dirty with poop that you can't see through it. They sit there and endure the soak for a certain length of time, then they get impatient and try to escape the tub. Scrambling at the sides and scurrying around in the water is what gets things moving.
