hello forum friends. Obviously were new here but i wanted to introduce Frank (reeves turtle) and myself, Stefanie. Im new at thia aquatic gig but as of now were doing good.
when my hubby bought Frank from petsmart (frankie was a vday gift :)) the chick told him he was a longneck turtle. Ha!! He does have quite a long neck but im sure she just made that up!! She didnt tell him anything about heating lighting or even how much water he likes in his tank....bad bad person reppin for petsmart. Anyhow after having him in approx 2 in of water for a couple days it was obvious he wasnt happy. So thanks to the forum here accepting my member request, i was able to get him happy!!!! I will say i was unsure about this guy at first but he has such a great personality!!! When we got him he had a red patch on the underside of his front foot (please dont yell at me if its not a foot. I think of it as so) but as we got his diet lighting and temp right, it went away. Can someone tell me what that was? Im just curious is all.

Welcome.
Photos would help with that question
Absolutely i couldnt agree more!! I happened to take 2 snaps of the reddened area but i embatassing ly admit you cant even see what it is im talking about. So no use in even posting. Also i was so busy trying to learn and do as much possible just for franks enclosure the red patch slipped my mind. It had cleared up the next time ilooked for it. I can add that the nail above the red area was looking yellow and almost about to fall off (yikes how could i of let that slip my mind) but now its just pike the others! I was just curious what it was in case it returned.

Hi and welcome!

It was probably something like what a human would encounter if he fell down on cement and landed on his knee (a skinned knee). He may have gotten it from glass surfing, trying to escape while in the pet store. I wouldn't worry about it.

Welcome! I can’t wait to see your buddy!

Some folks in here are tough, but they mean well. They‘ve been answering many of the same questions and seeing the same mistakes for years. What they lack in tact, they make up for in knowledge!
