I'm getting a Russian next week, and I bought a 22 inch zoo med reptisun uvb light. The only problem is, we can't find a fixture for it. They all either already have lights or the wrong size. Where can I find one?

Most of the fixtures will probably already have lights in them when you buy them. Just toss them out and replace it with your uvb bulb.

You could check with a hydroponics place for an empty HO fixture or try lightyourreptiles.com.

Probably cheaper and easier to do what Todd suggested, and get one at Home Depot and remove the bulb it came with. Just make sure it is a fixture for a T5 HO type bulb. The tube won't fit if you get the wrong type.

Hey there,

I also have a 22 inch reptisun bulb and I mounted it inside their reptisun 24 inch hood fixture. I found both on amazon and they fit perfectly together.

As for mounting the hood fixture, it doesn’t come with mounts or anything helpful like that. So I went to home depot and got some hanging tabs and found a small chain and a couple key rings and fabbed something up.

Hope that helps!

I am having the same issue- please post a picture or two of how you managed that. I have a hatchling in a 24 X 18 X 7 tupperware

The 22" tube is for the 24" hood.
As you've already found out.

I was curious how you all physically hung the fixture over the enclosure. ( I don't use a screen ) I ended up buying a metal frame made for hanging plant lights over plants. We just need to add some kind of hook or bracket to the fixture. A clear shower curtain drapes nicely over the entire enclosure and the separate heat lamp figure. If anyone has photos of their ideas, please share.

As for myself, my tortoises all live outdoors.
I use UVB lights for my collection of Veiled Chameleons and they are laying on top of the individual screen cages.
I have not suspended these. But I would probably epoxy four brackets to the sides. And attach thin swag chains and hang them from hooks screwed into the ceiling.
Easy. Effective. Adjustable. Removable and inexpensive

I am a new tortoise owner. I put this together for my Western Hermann hatchling. I plan on moving him to a larger enclosure soon ( 33 x 19 inches) I like that the UVB lights can be raised or lowered from this metal plant stand With a shower curtain and magnets that keep it in place the humidity stays above 70% with a few sprays per day. My wonderful husband built the wooden table and bought me the camera! image.jpg
