My dear sweet Chug has died in brumation.

I have no clue what happened. The weather here has not been cooperative, so I set up a temporary enclosure for him inside. The plan was to keep him in for a week or two until it was warmer outside.

I turned off his fridge last evening to let him start to warm up. I did not touch him. This morning I took his bin out of his fridge, and he was dead, very stiff, eyes deeply sunken in.

In the past 8 months, I have lost 5 people I loved, starting with my husband and ending with my best friend. Now my tortoise, who was with me for almost 3 years. There are no words to describe how I'm feeling.

Oh dear Karen!! Your post has brought me to tears and I cannot imagine your sorrow. How old was Chug? I'm just glad you had Chug for the three years you did. You will have all the good memories you have from all your loved ones, to cheer you up. Those memories never die. We will all be faced with these types of losses someday and God knows you must be a very strong soul to be handed so much in such a short period of time. Be well my friend!!

Thank you for the kind words. Best guess on Chug's age is 15.

You've been handed an awful lot to have to deal with. . . a very, very hard test for you. I'm so sorry this is going on for you. Having lost my son, then five months later my husband, I understand. Keep the faith.
Yvonne, I'm so sorry to hear of your losses too. My heart goes out to you. ?
