Hi, My leopard tort does not eat mazuri ls. I soaked it in water and broke it and gave it to her with vegetables, but she didn't like it.

So I gave it to her using the coffee grinder, but it was the same.

Is there a better way? How many times a week should I feed her?

Have a good weekend!

I cover the Mazuri pellets with water and set it in the refrigerator overnight. Then in the morning I mash it up to separate the chunks and mix it in with the chopped up greens. With a tortoise the size of yours, you only need about three or four pellets. Once its all mixed up into the food the tortoise won't be able to pick and choose. You only need to use the Mazuri a couple times a week. You can also moisten the pellets with fruit juice instead of water. Aloe juice works well too.

Tortoises eat what they've eaten before. Any new food takes a lengthy introduction period.

Most tortoises don't like the LS version and it takes time to introduce it. It may take weeks or months of mixing in tiny amounts to get your tortoise used to it.

Try the original Mazuri. Most tortoises find it much more attractive.

What are you showing us in the bag there?

You didn't do anything wrong.

As Tom said, one of the ways animals are programmed by their DNA to avoid poisoning themselves is to be suspicious of anything new.

When you are trying to expand your pet's diet and nutrition, you have to offer a New food item a number of times so that they can get used to it and more or less accidentally try it! lol

Try Yvonne's suggestions (dry pellets don't have much yummy odor or flavor anyway) about soaking it with water or juice and let your little one keep thinking it over.

The ZooMed diets are measurable better than either Mazuri products. If you flavor them with 'fruit juice' use one that don't spike the carbohydrates.

Are you sure that is Mazuri? Even ground up it does not look like it. I soak the pellets until they are mush. Dexter loves them, but only completely soft. He is one yr old
