That's a Trachemys Scripta. There's currently 4 of them, an Eastern River Cooter, and a Midland painted in the pond.

I know you'll think this is silly...but I try to identify the different turtles and tortoises using my experienced (lack) of memory and frankly am thrilled when I am correct...I used to head start gopherus agassizii and Sulcata hatchlings for my sis...I'd get whole clutches of babies 20 more or less...of both species. So I fancied myself some what of an expert...not! To this day I cannot tell a Sulcata hatchling from a desert tort... :( lol

With all the time on my hands lately due to Covid-19 I decided to use some old stuff and put together another small pond. This one will serve as a water plant nursery. I can grow a fresh supply of plants in this one to replace the plants in the big pond as the turtles destroy them. I'll probably add a few goldfish and who knows, maybe a couple more small turtles in the future.IMG_20200412_111143771.jpgIMG_20200412_112514429.jpgIMG_20200412_113338317.jpgIMG_20200412_113353236.jpgIMG_20200412_112733556.jpg

Built a new filter for the large pond and installed a new 1200 gallon per hour pump. Now the pond should be getting filtered about 3 times per hour.View attachment 291808
Awesome stuff man. Do you have a guide on how to build the filter? If you can do a how to video on the filter that would be awesome. Well a how to on the pond would be even better! Thank you!

Thanks

This was the first version
Same basic idea except the water comes out the top on the new one and I used a garbage can instead of bucket.

That's the kind of filter I use on my little outdoor fish pond - only 600 gallon pool. Trash cans give you a cheap starting place, and you can layer all sorts of filter media inside them. If I had a nice turtle set-up like that I would have to get an albino RES...

Yep, I learned next time get a more study one. This one is a kitchen can and it's real flimsy. Almost has to be completely empty of water before you can move it.
