I'd like to start a thread where members can post photos about Rediculously high
priced items that seem to only be expensive because the item is at a pet shop or just has a picture of a pet on it.

First up is Orchid bark vs Reptibark type products.
Reptibark type substrate has pictures of animals on it and its $15 or more.
Orchid bark from the Home Depot (not known for being cheap) is about $5.50. And is most likely a superior product.

Check out this GEM.
Fish tank water.
$14 for a 2+ gallon bottle.
Why is it so expensive? Because it claims that if you fill your tank with this magical liquid that you can "IMMEDIATELY ADD FISH".
WRONG! Not with an uncycled fiter. And if you have a fully cycled filter, you can add tap water with a few pennies worth of chlorine and chloramine remover drops....and add the fish.
Imagine you start with a tiny 10 gallon aquarium and you buy 4 or 5 of these to fill the thing. You're spending like $70 just in water. And your fish will die in it.
Compared to what? 25 cents...
I'm wondering if anyone else can beat this example.

Also for anyone who doesn't know, Petco will match advertised prices from other companies. All you have to do is show them the ad on your phone at the register. The aquatic turtle food I use is $19 dollars at Petco. I get it for the Chewy price of $6

Oddly my pet store- Fin and Feather Lakeside (Local) had the Repti-Sun 10.0 T5 46" for $32.99 and Amazon had it for $33.99. I am happy to shop local if the price is even close since if they are there and something is needed in a hurry-WIN!
