Brutus with his brother Binkey enjoying the last summer days together.

*YES i have my dog and tortoise together, they live together-the way a cat and dog would, you dont see dogs chewing on cats. We went over this already on another thread, please dont troll my thread about how you disagree. This is Binkeys growing up thread and this is how i choose to keep him with a trained livestock guardian breed so dont go there, Thankyou [emoji135]. 20190823_175924.jpg20190823_175802.jpg20190823_175805.jpg

Yeah we barely feed ours, we are LUCKY if he eat his two cups a day of chow, usually it's one, and limited ingredient, i dont know where the wieght comes from lol. He was the runt of the litter and somehow ended up the largest of all of them.

MasterBank/Banksey having a photoshoot with treats. Hes so mean, only way hell somewhat tolerate my presence is treats lol. Those scornful eyes always looking straight into my soul [emoji23]

Sorry wish the forum was still on Tapatalk :( I dont have a Pc And the forum is terrible for android.

Binkey is doing good growing fast. He/she used to have a long tail but its gotten so short i can barely see it now, makes me wonder if this is how sulcatas all sexually mature by going through this gender game where once they look more male then more female OR if Binkey is infact maturing into more feminine characteristics.....he is 8 inches can i sex him?

Gorgeous! You're doing a terrific job! I think it's still too young yet to be sexed though, at least not 100%.

Mizcreant thankyou very much. I wouldnt have come anywhere close without the forum and senior members, Binkey is living the good life lol i wasnt even aware of what he really was when i got him and was honestly shocked when i learned what he is. (My husband chose the breeder and thought it was fantastic to "gift" me with one of these puppies )Strange people sell them so easily to anyone. Do you happen to know when is the appropriate time to sex him? Hes only 13 months. I have gone through several threads on sexing and cant seem to get more info then 8-10 inches in length, how do I know if he is old enough? 2 years? I guess it doesnt really matter as eventually we all learn haha but the anticipation kills me

Good question. Each tort is different and display characteristcs at different times. I look at the tail region and shape of the plastron. Males will display a more defineable V-shape on the anterior section of the plastron whereas females are U-shaped. Tails on males are longer than females. Also, the shape of the plastron becomes a bit concave as opposed to that of females. Some torts will display these charateristics at 2 to 3 years whereas others take longer. One surefire way to tell males is when they start to show off their "packages". Mine is 2.5 years and 11 inches and has already displayed male characteristics.
